David Olivas has practiced law for more than three decades.
David Olivas has tried to verdict well over 100 jury cases. In addition, David has tried cases to the court and has litigated hundreds of motions and other matters before judges in state and federal court. David continues his Quest for Justice at his new firm, Olivas Law LLC.
David is licensed to practice law in Colorado and California. David speaks fluent Spanish. David also has a top rated AV rating by Martindale- Hubbel, a testament to the fact that his peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.
He began his career as a Denver prosecutor before moving up to become a managing partner for a San Francisco law firm involved in complex tort litigation. David was lead counsel in a seven-state region for a multi-national manufacturing company, among many other clients. Since 1997, David Olivas successfully represented a variety of clients in personal injury and criminal matters as a partner at Silverman & Olivas, P.C. In 2019, David left Silverman & Olivas, P.C. and gave birth to his new entity Olivas Law, LLC. David is bilingual and has an incredible passion for obtaining the best possible results for all of his clients in both the criminal and civil courts.
David Olivas began his legal career as a Denver Deputy District Attorney. He tried many jury cases in his seven years as a prosecutor, including murder, sexual assault, aggravated robbery and numerous other felonies. One of the most notable cases tried by David involved DNA which was the second case in the country, and first time in Colorado , that DNA was used to convince a jury to convict a serial rapist.
After leaving the DA's office, David began the second stage of his career with the insurance defense and complex product liability law firm, Tilly & Graves, P.C. During the initial years, David represented various insurance companies in the defense of automobile accident cases, other personal injury cases and medical malpractice cases as well as handling commercial litigation matters.
For several years, David represented a multinational pharmaceutical manufacturer in medical product liability lawsuits. David provided specific case litigation services, as well as responsibilities for development of experts to be used on a national level. David appeared in numerous federal and state courts throughout the country, including courts in Utah, Louisiana, California, Montana, New Jersey, South Dakota and Arizona. David has been admitted counsel pro hac vice in numerous state and federal courts throughout the country.
David quickly made partner at Tilly and Graves and ultimately became managing partner of Tilly & Graves' offices in San Francisco, California. While in San Francisco, David managed a team of approximately fifty people including lawyers, paralegals, and other staff. At the same time, David was lead counsel for a multiĀ¬ national company in its multi-million-dollar complex product liability cases. David was responsible for all litigation in a seven-state region for this particular client. At one point, David and his team managed approximately 10,000 active lawsuits in seven states. As part of David's complex tort litigation duties, he was frequently required to provide training to teams of attorneys and paralegals in the areas of medical defenses, deposition technique and strategy and expert development.
